hello! my name is Cori McCullough and I am a visual artist and musician currently living and working in Portland, OR.

My artwork seeks to convey the in between areas where moments integrate from an outer reality into an inner landscape. Patterns beyond logic and reason where reality separates into a world without language. The connections and stories brought to mind by interactions of color and form.

Moments linger and last. The way a landscape made you feel, a pattern from a dream.

The intricate nuances and experiences that become memories. I am deeply fascinated with the way color and form creates narratives, often recurring and interchanging.

My work is interested in how these transitions become connections and live on within us. My oil paintings contain many layers, as if upon first glance you see a moment, on a second glance you begin to reveal the nuances that led to the moment. The depth of layers seeks to emerge, inviting the viewer to take a pause, raise questions within.

My art practice is ever evolving, a balance of intuition and intention. I am a multidisciplinary artist, with a Bachelors degree in filmmaking, and a background in photography. I am based in Portland, OR by way of Los Angeles and Northern Michigan. I work from imagination and fragments of reality. I often feel I am decoding a puzzle - colors and shapes informing the next motions. As strange as it sounds, it really is working through me.
